Got some advice on photos today. Covered a story and am currently writing it up as well as another which is in the works.

More community notes postings as well.

day 6

Learned some things today.
Made a couple community event postings. Working on one story, made proposal for another, waiting for input on the idea. More updates to come.

UPDATE: Got to make an important phonecall for information on a news brief, just after 2 pm.

first friday

Tonight I'm going to a high-profile event to take pictures and write a little bit.
Today is being spent working on stories and updating the community events calendar.

More to come.

day 4

We had an editorial meeting today.
I did a few more community briefs.
I was also given a story that I am looking forward to covering.
It seems very important. I will be spending the whole night on it because I think this is of great importance.

day 3

Today I have been posting more community news briefs. I have also been given my second story to work on.

I am gradually getting used to working here.

The highlight of my day came on the bus ride in, however; Q92's Terry Callaghan stepped on the bus I was riding in on as it passed the radio station and rallied the crowd on the bus to chant "Go Wolves Go!" for the morning broadcast. I heartily participated.

It's too bad the Wolves are going to get bounced from the playoffs tonight, but it made my day nonetheless.

Tuesday

I have done one interview, and begun writing the story related to that interview.
I have also written a few briefs for the website, one of which has already been posted.

First day of placement

It's my first day of placement at Northern Life today.

I will post how it went on here as things happen.

As of 4 pm, I have written some community events, and been assigned 1 story.

Overall, a good introduction to working at a newspaper.

Ovechkin's 50th and the fallout

I think the celebration was funny, but I still hate Ovie because he doesn't play for my team.
I also think touchdown celebrations are great entertainment, and that's what pro sports is - entertainment.

Cherry is an opinionated dolt sometimes, but can you blame him? He's 75. He's not going to change his ways now.

Anyway - 50 goals in the regular season means nothing in the playoffs.
You need to play the game every game.

True performing teams win championships. Until Ovie and the Criminals win a playoff series, any accomplishments in the regular season are simply that.
