There's nothing wrong with a plus-one concept.
I would like to see a plus-three, at least, if the full 11 conference-champions plus an at-large idea isn't good enough.
The winning teams of the Sugar, Rose, Orange, and Fiesta Bowl meet in two national semi-finals on January 8th, which is currently the date for the "National Championship".
The national semi-final games are played at two of the four bowl sites, rotating each year.
The new National Championship Game is played at a third of the four bowl sites, again rotating every year.
All this does is add two more games and one more week to the season. And the #1 to #8 teams all have a shot at the title, making it a REAL playoff while still preserving the bowls.
What's wrong with that?

MLB realignment - again
EAST - Yankees, Mets, Toronto, Atlanta, Baltimore, Washington, Tampa, Florida, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia
CENTRAL - Boston, Detroit, Milwaukee, Minnesota, White Sox, Cubbies, Cleveland, Cincinatti, St. Louis, Kansas City
WEST - Dodgers, Angels, Oakland, Seattle, Texas, Houston, Arizona, Colorado, San Francisco, San Diego
Divisional play is 72 games; 8 games versus each opponent in the division.
INTERDIVISIONAL PLAY works like this:
5 Central teams play 5 West teams 4 times each, while the other 5 Central teams play 5 East teams 4 times each. (20)
5 East teams play 5 Central teams 4 times each , while the other 5 East teams play the other 5 West teams 4 times each.
5 West teams play 5 East 4 times each. The other 5 West teams play 5 Central teams 4 times each.
Teams then play the other half of the division that they did not play before.
This adds up to 40 games per team against each of the other 2 divisions, or 80 games total against the other 2 divisions.
The regular season therefore totals 72+80, or 152 games.
PLAYOFFS
The top 2 teams in each division play in the Division Series.
The Wild Card teams are the next best teams from anywhere in the 3 divisions.
Four teams emerge from these series.
Let's use some examples:
Top 2 East: Yankees, Braves
Top 2 West: Angels, Astros
Top 2 Central: Boston, Cubbies
Wild Cards: Kansas City, Tampa Bay
In the second round, the four remaining teams are seeded 1-4 based on record.
i.e.
(1) Yankees (100-52) vs (4) Tampa Bay (88-64)
(2) Astros (97-55) vs (3) Boston (94-58)
The remaining two teams play for the World Series.
ALTERNATIVELY...
All teams in the Majors are ranked 1-30 based on record.
The top 16 make the post-season.
1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, and so on in the first round.
The highest seed always faces the lowest seed.
There are 4 rounds of best-of-7, because the regular season, reduced to 152 games, leaves enough time for 4 rounds of playoffs instead of the current 3 rounds.
Either one of these ideas might lead to the possibility (however slim) of a World Series between the Red Sox and the Yankees. It could also potentially lead to a World Series that pits Kansas City against Atlanta, but hey, what's wrong with that?

Post I made on the CBC website
This is a post I made in response to a CBC article that talked about what Dubya said in his final press conference.
"We all make mistakes. Bush just happens to be an expert at it.
Backwards thinking and elitism, catering to Big Oil and all the rest of his buddies, "not car(ing) about black people", appointing useless people to high-ranking positions, starting a war based on faked intelligence...
Need I go on?
Conservatism and conservative values will never bring about positive change in an ever-changing world. I don't understand how anyone can elect officials to government that use a conservative ideology as the basis for how they run their life, and want to run everyone else's lives as well.
Conservative, to me, means resistant to change. Happy with the status quo.Even when the status quo is leading to oblivion, they are too blind to take action, believing we should "stay the course."
Well, if he wanted to mess everything up, I have just one thing to say:
Mission accomplished."

Winter Classics
My ideas for future matchups:
1. Isles-Rangers (Giants Stadium)
I think this one is a no-brainer.
2. Pittsburgh-Philly (Beaver Stadium)
Same with this one.
3. Toronto-Ottawa (Rogers Centre)
Good for the Canadian fans.
4. Montreal-Boston (Gillette Stadium/Big O)
An Original Six matchup is always good.
Not sure if an "outdoor" game would fly in Dixie, but I made up #5 and 6 anyway.
5. Atlanta-Carolina (Georgia Dome, because it's a dome and would be able to have ice)
6. Tampa-Florida (where? any stadium they can put a roof on)
7. Chicago-Detroit
(I know it was done, but not at Ford Field)
8. Columbus-Nashville (Buckeye Stadium or Volunteer Stadium)
This one could have a record attendance.
9. Calgary-Edmonton (Commonwealth or McMahon)
The good old Battle of Alberta.
10. Colorado-Minnesota (Invesco or Metrodome)
11. Anaheim-LA (LA Coliseum)
12. San Jose-Phoenix (U of Phoenix)
13. Dallas-New Jersey (JerryWorld LOL)
A matchup made out of the 2000 Stanley Cup Final.
14. St. Louis-Vancouver (BC Place)
I think it would be great to have the Canucks play anyone as an attention-grabber for the Olympics.
15. Washington-Buffalo (RFK or the Ralph)
Just to finish off the list.

Realigned NFL
Just messing around. I did this because of the decided lack of teams in the western half of the continent.
NFL West - Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland, San Diego, Arizona, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis.
NFL East - Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, NY Jets, NY Giants, Buffalo, New England, Tennessee, Indianapolis.
NFL North - Minnesota, Green Bay, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinatti, Baltimore, Washington
NFL South - Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Carolina, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Miami
**Alternatively, KC and St. Louis are put in the South division, and Dallas and Houston switch to the West.**
Teams play 16 games each in a season, playing all teams in their own division twice, and two of the 24 other teams, in a 12-year cycle.
The season could also be expanded to 18 games by replacing two of the preseason games with games that actually count. This would allow each team to see every other team in a 6-year cycle. Maybe even 20 games? That's 14 against divisional opponents, and 6 others, to see every other team in 4 years.
The top 4 teams in each division make the playoffs. 1 plays 4, 2 plays 3.
(Alternatively, the top 3 in each division make the playoffs, allowing for the top 4 teams in the playoffs to earn byes to the second round, like it is in the NFL now.)
The winners of each division are re-seeded 1-4, with #1 playing #4 and #2 playing #3.
The best two teams go to the Superbowl.
Alternatively:
All 32 teams are ranked 1-32. The best 16 or 12 or whatever make the playoffs.
