There's nothing wrong with a plus-one concept.
I would like to see a plus-three, at least, if the full 11 conference-champions plus an at-large idea isn't good enough.
The winning teams of the Sugar, Rose, Orange, and Fiesta Bowl meet in two national semi-finals on January 8th, which is currently the date for the "National Championship".
The national semi-final games are played at two of the four bowl sites, rotating each year.
The new National Championship Game is played at a third of the four bowl sites, again rotating every year.
All this does is add two more games and one more week to the season. And the #1 to #8 teams all have a shot at the title, making it a REAL playoff while still preserving the bowls.
What's wrong with that?
